This car was built for the Who is agent Janus challenge on LUGNuts.
When I think of agents, I either think of guys in dark suits wearing ear-pieces or I think of the last computer game I really got into a while ago. It was called "The Operative: No One Lives Forever", and dealt with a female spy in a world similar to the swinging ’sixties portrayed in the Austin Powers movies. Since the latter seems like a lot more fun than the former, it is what I opted for. So, let’s go back to the ’sixties.
It’s bad enough that the free world’s security services are facing the red peril without a mad physicist with an attitude problem running off with the plans to build an experimental doomsday weapon. So, what is a government to do? Set up an organisation to secretly deal with the problem, of course, called the Special Task Unit Nothing. (Perhaps having an interdepartmental work-group decide on the organisation’s name during a lengthy lunch at the local pub wasn’t such a good idea.) The physicist in question, Dr. Nothing, is known to have three possibly fatal weaknesses: he loves red-haired women, exotic cars and he likes to gamble.
Enter agent Janus. It’s not easy for a girl to work in a male-dominated profession, certainly in the ’sixties. You quickly get tired of the guys asking you to do their filing for them, get them coffee and answer the phone. However, once you’ve kicked their behinds a few times during close combat training, are consistently a better shot than they are and turn out to be the only member of the team to speak fluent Lithuanian, they tend to take you a little more seriously and may actually fetch you your coffee.
Dr. Nothing has been spotted in the French Riviera, which is why agent Janus finds herself outside a casino in Monaco, driving the latest model Lamborghini. She will need her skills as well as her looks to get close to her target and retrieve the stolen plans …

fantastic

i completely agree!
June 24th, 2010 at 8:35 am
wow. beautiful.
June 24th, 2010 at 8:35 am
great job
June 24th, 2010 at 8:35 am
Yeah, baby, yeah!
But seriosly, I absolutely love this. The
windscreen and opening ends are quite
impressive, as is the lime green itself. This
certainly isn’t your average creation, but
that isn’t a bad thing!
I also love the mention of a mad physicist
in the description.

Fantastic design! The shape really comes
together well.
June 24th, 2010 at 8:35 am
Spot on! I saw the picture in the Lugnuts
thread and without reading the story I
thought "Miura!"
June 24th, 2010 at 8:35 am
Thanks guys. The description has to do with
the challenge, of course. I normally try to
be a brief and to the point in my write-ups
(not easy for somebody who tends to waffle),
but for this challenge Lino encouraged a bit
of creative writing. I simply couldn’t resist
the urge to call the evil super-genius Dr.
Nothing a ‘mad physicist’.
Lego 911 did a lime green Miura a while ago, and it really is the perfect
colour for this car, so when I found quite a
bit of it in the PaB at Legoland Windsor
about a month ago, I knew I just had to build
a Miura with it.

A very striking model! Love it
Instant fave
June 24th, 2010 at 8:35 am
Brilliant! I’m not a Lambo fanboy or too much
into insanely expensive sports cars in
general. But the Miura is easily one of my
most favourite cars ever – design-wise. The
shape of it is so damn good it never ever
seems to age. AND: If I had a list of
favourite Lego colours, lime green would be
way up high there too. You ROCK!
June 24th, 2010 at 8:35 am
Yes, putting your own namesake in the story
was a perfect touch. Beautiful work as
always, Ralph. And who would have
thought…Dr. Nothing is a sucker for red
heads too!
June 24th, 2010 at 8:35 am
Gosh, If I haven’t looked around I might have
totally missed this. Basketball practice is
getting too late…>:(
Anyways great model! The whole vehicle is
incredibly well made, especially that rear
part that starts sloping inward. I see you
used a simple 1×2 hinge, a very useful part
at that.
Look forward to the next masterpiece.

Lovely, I like the background story almost as
much as the car…
June 24th, 2010 at 8:35 am
What a subject to attempt! And yet, when I
saw the thumb, I thought, hang on, is that a
Lego Miura? So once again, you’ve managed to
nail it. =)

I’m not overly fond of supercars either, but
since I knew I was unlikely to find the time
to build multiple entries for the challenge,
I should put some extra effort into my single
entry. It’s hard to beat lime green when it
comes to being eye-popping. I also quite
enjoyed the write-up to go with it. I was
originally going to call the secret unit
Secret Task Unit for Preventing Imminent
Danger, but figured that was a bit too stupid
June 24th, 2010 at 8:35 am
Lovely…..It’s so beautiful, I love it! Good
job Ralph!

You’re a GOAT! (Grandmaster Of Acronym

I like lamborghini!
June 24th, 2010 at 8:35 am
nice!
June 24th, 2010 at 8:35 am
Man, I almost missed this!
And I never thought there were so many
useful parts coming in lime now …
Great model and I love the background story.
It would be nice to see that mad physicist
and let that story evolve some more!

Beste Ralph,
het is je weer gelukt je verzameling uit te
breiden met een fantastisch stukje werk, en
dat met zo weinig onderdelen. Top !
June 24th, 2010 at 8:35 am
This is art… And with this color; this is a
real piece of art! Great work Ralph, you
captured the shape perfectly, one of my
favorites from you… But I have only one
thing on this car; I think the front section
where the headlights and the intakes are
attached should be a little bit more Inclined
toward the bumper, but this is actually
nothing in front of this great model, and
since they didn’t sloping that part in the
real car that much.
Keep on the great work… Peace.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Being able to build anything reasonable
still requires quite a bit of dedication.
I’ve been collecting lime green for a few
years, but the parts selection is still a bit
limited. Most of what I have is one-wide
plates and bricks and just a few special
elements such as headlight bricks, wedge
plates, hinges, tiles and cheese slopes. I
bought a few 45 degree 2×2 inverted slopes
from bricklink especially for this project.
Still, I wouldn’t have been able to do it if
it weren’t for a friend of mine who was
willing to part with some of his 1×1 lime
plates (a fairly rare part that only appeared
in a single set a few years ago) and lots of
1×2 and 1×4 plates appearing in the PaB at
LEGOLand Windsor before Christmas. I’m sure
that the parts selection is better now that
the Power Miners sets are out, but I don’t
have any of those yet.
Dank je pap. Dat ik hem in deze ietwat maffe
kleur heb kunnen bouwen bezorgde me de meeste
lol aan deze auto.
Thanks Firas. I agree that it would look
better if it were a bit more sloped. In an
earlier version it was, but I ran out of
space for the spare tyre and the steering
mechanism and had to change it. Compromises,
compromises.

Hey, just saw that you were blogged on Autoblog! Mad props dude.

Thanks for the heads up. I was contacted by
one of their writers earlier today, so I did
know about it. I’m well pleased.
