Just when you were feeling like you were finally beginning to get caught up on the technological world of today - your smart phone in hand, mp3 player turned on and wireless internet installed - all signs point to the probability of a few new players entering the game. Recent developments having to do with the popularity of the iPhone and other devices of the type have shown that internet carriers are going to have to upgrade their mobile networks if they want to be able to handle the growing amount of data traffic likely to come from consumers using popular social networks and video programs. Many members of the telecommunications technology community are looking to 4G for the future of wireless internet communication.
But what is 4G? The answer to that question can be surprisingly tough to find, especially if you’re not the most technologically-savvy person in the world. 4G is the shortened term for fourth-generation wireless, the state of mobile broadband communication that follows the third generation (3G). Still a little lost? Carriers and standards bodies are, too. Much of exactly what 4G will entail remains to be defined. Experts agree that it will most likely include end-to-end IP and high-quality streaming video, but few details are known. A combination of WiMax and WiFi technology is likely to be used.
Even with this definition, you may find yourself asking what fourth-generation wireless internet means to you. What is all the fuss about? Industry heads predict that users will be able to expect wireless services that support lightning fast data-transmission speeds as high as 100Mbps. Traffic prioritization is also a possibility.
What this means is that live stream video will be available faster and easier than ever. YouTube videos will be downloaded in a flash, and mobile employees will be able to participate in video conference. The quality of these videos will be excellent. Other 4G possibilities include mobile vlogs and new models for collaborative citizen journalism.
Though 4G will be faster, it won’t be cheaper, especially for carriers. The Telecommunications Industry Association estimated spending of more than $4.4 billion on WiMax infrastructure in 2008. WiMax is only one potential 4G standard, so if that big of an investment is being made in one area, imagine what is being spent in other areas and the total as a whole. Wireless internet carriers will have to drop big bucks if they want to move into this next phase of wireless communication. The investment, of course, will most likely be quite worth it.
Don’t get your undies in a bundle yet - 4G technology is still quite a bit of a ways off. Wireless communications providers are just starting to dip their toes into the sea of 4G, WiMax and other such technologies, and no clear answers are available yet. It might be a good idea, however, to start reading up on this fourth generation of wireless communications. You’ll be able to keep up-to-speed on the latest in telecommunications and eventually decide if 4G is an option that is right for you.

The political fallout from the AIG bailout will be massive. With $165 million in US taxpayers' money going to pay executive bonuses, the Obama administration is bailing itself for a backlash. It looks impotent and ineffective as Bernanke tells 60 Minutes he slammed the phone down a few times in that conversation about AIG. But in the end, he says, there was no choice. AIG's tentacles were spread too far.
It coincides with a New York Times/CBS news poll, reported here, showing that 83% of Americans want the US Government to cap executive salaries and politicians pushing the Obama administration to stop the payouts. Some might say that's only fair, but as columnist Thomas Friedman says, fairness has left the building. Congress is shelling out hundreds of billions of dollars on toxic assets and the money is going to keep coming. While people say it's unfair, the bailout is designed to stop the building from burning down, not to build a new one.
"Some people estimate a trillion dollars or more private capital sitting on the sidelines just waiting to come in. You can see it last week in the stock market…. No one wants to be late, no one wants to miss this," Friedman says. "It's sitting out there but it's not going to come in until there is some certainty on what the rules of the game are. And the problem with getting that certainty is two-fold. One is the fairness issue. It's gonna be unfair. People who don't deserve to be bailed out are going to be bailed out. That's one problem. And the other problem is the incredible complexity of the issue. We've never seen this much leverage…. It's all over the world wrapped in this much complexity and started in America. Untangling this incredible Gordian knot we've created is really going to be difficult."
There are no easy solutions here and we are in for a protracted period of ugliness. The fascinating part will be watching how the politicians handle it to minimize the inevitable collateral damage.

It is tough to explain safe investments because no type of investment can be considered safe as well as lucrative. You will have to skip a feature - investments that provide good returns will include high risk factors and vice versa. In the following sections, I will be explaining certain investment procedures that are considered to be safe. I can already sense the excitement present in the minds of many millions as they read these lines. Block all sorts of negativity and approach the paradigm with a positive outlook. In addition, ensure that you have a smile when you see the positive returns piling up in your bank account.
One of the best and safest investments that is accessible to mankind is the savings bank account. It is very easy to start a savings bank account these days. You will have to visit the nearest financial institution and fill up certain forms. You will be asked to make certain payments and that is all. Now all you have to do is to wait until the maturity period when the interest rate will be added into the existing amount. The interest rate is known to vary - all the banks are decreasing the savings bank account interest rates because it is turning out to be less feasible to them. Yet, you get guaranteed returns.
Allow me to introduce other types of safe investment procedure - it is commonly touted as CD or certificate of deposits. In fact, there is not much difference between a bank savings account and a CD. The only advantage is the high returns that will be bestowed to you when the maturity period arrives. It is wiser not to withdraw the interest amounts. Allow it to add to the existing amount, and let the profits accumulate over a stretch of time.
Would you consider investing if the government is coming forth with an investment plan? Well, consider this as your lucky day then because if you are a citizen of the United States, then you can surely opt for securities that are brought out by the government. The niche might be a bit complicated for a commoner, but the profits associated with it are simply awesome. You will have to choose from the bills, notes, and even bonds issued by the official treasury. In some social circles, the same procedure is often stated as bonds.
Mutual funds come next in the queue of feasible investments. There are agencies that specialize in this niche. You will have to pass some of your savings to the agencies, who will in turn invest the same on various moneymaking ventures. The profits will be deposited into your account. A certain percentage will be taken by the agency that acts as the intermediary. Assured returns are tough to materialize with mutual funds. Yet, one will be able to assimilate higher returns if the economic conditions prove to be highly favorable to investors. This is one of the preferred investment methods that is opted by many millions all over the country.
The niche is still incomplete. There are plenty of other investment opportunities like fixed annuities. You are free to decide the options, and you will have to make sensible decisions that will prove to be highly beneficial to you at a later date.
